A New Creative Adventure

After a fun filled vacation along the Oregon coast, Mary and I were waiting for a flight home in a small but unique airport, shrouded in metal scale cladding and expansive glass displaying the natural wonder of the Pacific Northwest and stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. We couldn't help but feel a sense of belonging. Airports are familiar waypoints that have taken us to destinations across the world, but this place was truly special and six months later we were comfortably settled in with a view of our own of the Pacific Ocean which has created a new chapter in our adventure.

Turning back time to many years ago, I was one lucky guy who met his soulmate—Mary, an encounter that ignited a love that has been an incredible journey ever since. Together, we've raised three wonderful children and experienced the joy of two adorable grandsons. Two of our kids along with their mates have taken up roots on the coast as well, and our youngest daughter, her husband, and newborn son live in sunny San Diego where we enjoy visiting every chance we get.

With forty plus years in healthcare and consulting, Mary and I decided to take up a new endeavor. It began during an anniversary getaway to Victoria B.C. On our way home, we stopped at a glass studio to see what it was all about. After spending time with the owner, we decided to have some fun and memorialize this special celebration and we created our first piece of fused glass with the aid of the owner/artist. Together we discovered a world of vibrant colors, playful light, and boundless creativity. As is our impetuous approach, we transformed our media room into a studio, equipped it with a kiln, filled shelves with Bullseye glass, along with an array of tools and books, we embarked on an artistic journey together giving life to what is now Creative Elements of Expressions.

At this stage in our journey in life it has not really been about relaxing in retirement, it's been about embracing new opportunities and passions. We raised our family, had great careers, and traveled the world together, immersing ourselves in all the gifts and experiences along our path. All of which has brought those elements to light in our crafting. Working in the studio creating and having fun is what life is all about now. There is also a lot of learning, experimenting, and testing which keep our minds busy. Now, these moments deepen our appreciation for the arts combined with doing our family thing together…what could be better than that!

Today, the enduring power of love, companionship, and unity surrounds me alongside Mary where we celebrate a life brimming with art, travel, and the unwavering bond of our family and friends…which provide an existence that is very content and extremely happy. Together, we eagerly anticipate the adventures that lie ahead, both as partners and fellow artists, as our mission of creativity and love continues to evolve.
