From Motherhood to Fused Glass Artistry

Standing at the quaint airport along the Oregon coast, gazing at the Pacific Ocean, my artistic journey unfolds alongside Mike, my husband for the past 49 years. Known for my unwavering dedication to family, I discovered an unexpected passion—fused glass—a craft that transformed my life and opened new horizons.

For years, my role as a devoted mother took precedence, filled with the joys and challenges of nurturing three children. As they forged their paths, I felt a yearning for a new purpose, a personal endeavor that would reignite my spirit. Fate intervened when Mike and I were introduced to the mesmerizing world of fused glass art.

Our artistic talents have been passed down to our children, who, alongside their successful careers, share a deep passion for art. They often join me in the studio, each contributing their unique perspective and creativity. It brings immense joy to see them explore the world of art alongside their careers.

Intrigued by the limitless possibilities of fused glass, I embarked on a journey of discovery. With patience, I learned intricate techniques and delicate artistry, and my innate talent began to flourish. My art bears the imprint of extensive travels, weaving influences from cities like London, Paris, Tokyo, Oslo, Amsterdam, and Copenhagen, to the warm Caribbean islands and the majestic landscapes of Canada and Alaska.

Each destination contributes to my creations—a rich tapestry of influences blending the hues of the ocean, the textures of landscapes, and the vibrancy of the many gardens I’ve viewed, including our own gardens. My art becomes a testament to a deep connection with the world, reflecting the beauty and essence of the places we've explored.

Beyond art, I find joy in baking, managing stress through the simplicity of doing laundry, and cherishing my love for dogs, goats, babies, and the youngest members of our family. As we stand on the brink of new adventures, both in life and art, I carry with me the rich tapestry of experiences that have shaped my journey.
